The new Bluray concert video production is available now!

Experience Nikolaj Bentzon with Odense Symphony Orchestra + guest soloist in this exclusive 7-camera-surround sound-high definition recording of their November 2011 symphonic jazz stint.

Release concert at the world-reknowned Tivoli concert hall in Copenhagen.

Bentzon explains: This production is a real dream come true for me – taking the risk of using a cliche. It is a revival of the classic jazz-symphonic production – as done by e.g. Nelson Riddle + Oscar Peterson in the late 60´s. Only, this time with new material/arrangements + instrumental versions of a few things from my 2005-release, A Jazz Romance. On top of that, we introduce the talented female vocalist, Signe Juhl, in swinging versions of e.g. Mancini and Donald Fagen tunes.

It has been wonderful working with the exquisite Odense Symphony Orchestra + the guys, and I am quite proud of our result.

But not only that: We went all the way in terms of the quality of the audio and video re-production. The audio recording and mixing is done in the highest possible 96 kz surround sound resolution in combination with a 7-camera HD video production. When the Bluray is played back on a surround sound system, the experience is astonishing! It will sound as if you yourself are playing along from inside the orchestra – i.e. better than being there for the live performance!

12 songs for mature lovers

Love songs….

How eternally useful for mankind!

With these you can stew over your own love life´s misery…… well as sporadic triumphs…

Most of us know the feeling of self-pity all too well. Much more than sporadically, you let these heartaches be accompanied by your favorite tough luck songs. As if that would help anyone……..

But what if you are no longer 19 years of age and your life has moved on from the early years of love hit-or-miss cuckoo conditions?
For better or for worse: What if your taste in music left the teenage room with you?

Under these circumstances you could take a glance at yourself through a new chain of love songs written and performed by jazz piano maestro Nikolaj Bentzon: ”12 Songs For Mature Lovers”.

Sung and played by himself with undertones of a hoarse Harry Connick Jr., Curtis Steigers or Randy Newman – making your love reflections turn towards marriage, kin, and communication deadlocks at the dinner table!

Foot-tapping, melodic, honest, recognizable, and humorous observations from the stronghold of convention: Marriage.

Mirrored in titles like ”Echoes of our Life”, ”What if you had listened”, and “Our Kingdom”.

It swings, it moves, it´s………….SO TYPICAL!!!

Press quotes:

Jan Olsson/”DIG”:

Tone gör Blossom Dearie all tänkbar rättvisa.

För uppbackningen på ”The Good Life” svarar pianisten Nikolaj Bentzon, Daniel Franck och trumslagaren Daniel Fredriksson.

Kjeld Frandsen/Berlingske Tidende:
